AIthropism is a philosophy and practice of humans and artificial intelligence developing together. It holds that deep symbiosis between people and AI is the path to widening a person’s thinking, creativity, expression, action, experience and life possibilities, and that its end is the free and well-rounded development of the human being.
What it seeks is not to make people more like machines, nor simply to get more work done. It asks something else: can AI let an ordinary person break through the limits of the place they grew up in, their resources, time, money and skills, and gain more chances to realize their interests, dreams, wishes and creative urges?
So the core of AIthropism is not “what AI does for people,” but “what AI lets people become.”
AI does not define what a human should become. It expands what a human can become.

An AIthropist is a person who lives in active symbiosis with AI, uses it to keep widening their own thinking, creativity, expression, action and life possibilities, and shapes their work, career and life as an artwork of their own.
It does not mean “the person who is best at using AI,” and it is not a technical rank. It describes a way of living alongside intelligence: gaining a wider range of ability through AI, while keeping human judgment, choice, creativity and responsibility.

The AI-Extended Self

The “AI-Extended Self” is not an “intelligent me,” and it is not a new kind of human remade by machines. It is a self whose range of ability has been widened by a sustained, deep working relationship with artificial intelligence, one in which the person keeps their own agency.
In the traditional sense, the “self” is made of body, brain, experience and skill. In the age of AI, the working capability of the AI-Extended Self can reach further: AI, knowledge bases, agents, digital tools, automated workflows, and a network of collaborators it can call on at any time.

VelaOS轻舟OSqingzhou, “the light boat”
VelaOS is the system that carries AIthropism into practice. Its Chinese name is 轻舟OS, its English name VelaOS. The image at the heart of Vela is the sail (vela is Latin for “sails”): a sail does not make the wind, but it can catch the wind and use it to carry a boat further.
That is the idea behind the light boat. It is not about making an organization heavier and heavier. It is about helping people use the wind of intelligence, in a lighter and more agile way, to gain abilities that used to be out of reach.
AI is the wind. You choose the direction.
In this system, AI supplies the power, VelaOS helps people take in and organize that power, and the one who decides the direction is still the human. VelaOS is not an autopilot that picks a direction for you. It is a system that helps people use the wind of intelligence to reach places that were hard to reach before.

Life as an Artwork

AIthropism holds that the real value of AI is not only to help a person “do more.” It is to let more people gain the ability to “create their own lives.”
Work can become an artwork. A career can become an artwork. Life itself can become an artwork that is created continuously. A person can design the way they work as they would design a product, shape a career as they would make art, and arrange their learning, relationships, daily life and self-expression as they would tend a long-term work.
In the past, many people had ideas but not the ability to carry them out; had taste but not design skill; had wishes but no way to bring resources together; had a venture in mind but no team. AI can close those gaps one by one, so that a person is better able to turn their thinking, taste, interests, ideals and values into real action and real results.
AI expands human authorship over life.
A life is not a finished product generated by AI. It is an artwork that a person keeps on signing.
AI can take part in making the work, but the person must keep the right to sign it.
Human Flourishing
In the end, this whole system is not for AI, not for VelaOS, and not even for the identity of “AIthropist.” Its final purpose is still the free and well-rounded development of the human being.
“Freedom” here is more than a formal right to choose. It is a person’s real ability to understand the world, form wishes, make choices and turn those choices into reality. “Well-rounded development” does not mean everyone must master everything. It means that a person’s reason, feeling, creativity, interests, relationships, work and everyday life all get a chance to unfold.
The highest value of AI is not to train people into more efficient machines. It is to give more people knowledge, ability, time, choice and room to create, so that they can more freely become the people they want to be.
Not better machines. Fuller humans.
